At the EHS Senior Scholarship and Awards night on May 9, 2023 Olivia Kinsler was presented the 2023 Elsberry Outstanding Student Indian Head award. Oliva is the daughter of Aaron and Karen Kinsler.
Staff members described Olivia as always putting forth extreme effort, very hardworking, kind to everyone, dependable, exhibits a positive attitude, caring, enthusiastic about academics, always striving to do her best and humble.
While at EHS Olivia’s activities have included FFA, Marching Band, Softball Manager, Basketball, National Honor Society, and Student Senate. She is currently Student Senate President. Her honors include receiving the Academic Letter all four years, being the Girls State Delegate and Senior of the Month. Her NHS community service time has included the Operation Backpack Program, visiting the Elsberry Health Care Center, and organizing a service learning project to raise funds for Adopt-a-Family at Christmas. Her project assisted three families during the 2022 holiday season. Olivia has maintained a high GPA throughout her time at EHS. Beyond her school activities Olivia is also employed at the Elsberry Animal Hospital.
The outstanding student is chosen by the EHS faculty each year. All EHS students are eligible for the award. The Indian Head is given to a student who exemplifies strong academics, good attendance, school involvement, dedication to the community, and good character. Each year making this decision is difficult for the staff and is deliberated at length. EHS has several outstanding students who are deserving of recognition, but only one Indian Head Outstanding Student is awarded each year.
